
A woman has died after a fire at a home in Waterbury on July Fourth.
Firefighters responded to the single-family home on Pinecrest Drive around 10:11 p.m. It was reported that the fire was on the upper level of the home in a closet.
A caller also said there was a grandmother still in the home and that she was immobile.
Once crews arrived, they said they found smoke showing and searched the home to find the grandmother.
Firefighters brought the woman out to the front of the home and began CPR. She was transported to Waterbury Hospital where authorities said she later died. Her identity has not yet been released.
One firefighter was also transported to the hospital for observation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
