15-year-old paddleboarder dies following medical emergency in Eastford
A 15-year-old East Hampton girl has died after officials say she suffered a medical emergency while paddleboarding in Eastford Sunday afternoon.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) says that this all unfolded at Crystal Pond and that the girl was pulled from the water by a good Samaritan.
She received medical treatment ashore before being taken to Day Kimball Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The office of the Chief Medical Examiner will work to determine a cause and manner of death.
