
One person has died and another person is in critical condition after a shooting outside of a nightclub in Waterbury early Sunday morning.
Officers were called to LA 42 Night Club on East Main Street for a report of shots fired around 12 a.m. Once police were in the area, they said there was a large gathering and evidence of gunfire was present at the scene.
Police said an 18-year-old woman from Waterbury was found on the ground outside of the club. She was reportedly unresponsive and was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Nearby, officers said they also found a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was also found outside on the ground and was unresponsive.
Both the man and the woman were taken to the hospital for treatment. Investigators said the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.
The woman is still receiving treatment and remains in critical condition. Police described her injuries as life-threatening.
