A husband and wife have both died after the husband told a 911 dispatcher that he was going to shoot his wife, who had terminal cancer, and then himself in Plainfield, police said.
Around 7 p.m. Monday, a man called 911 and said his wife was suffering from terminal cancer and that he intended to take her life and then his own. He said he would leave the doors to the residence on Kate Downing Road open for officers, police said.
When the Plainfield Police Department arrived, they found the husband and wife with gunshot wounds and pronounced them dead at the scene, according to police.

A gun was recovered from the home on Kate Downing Road, police said.
The husband and wife were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy and further examination.
