
Cancer and health screenings are now covered under the State of Connecticut Employee Health Plan and the Connecticut Partnership Plan, according to a spokesperson for Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut.
Any career or volunteer firefighter in the state can now receive a cancer screening at a discounted price of $349 if they are not on one of the two insurance plans that cover it, according to a UPFFA spokesperson.
The screenings will be held at the UConn Fire Department on 126 North Eagleville Rd. from July 9-11.
Screenings will take about 30 minutes to complete. Exams include the following:
- Echocardiogram
- Carotid d artery screening
- Abdominal aorta screening
- Thyroid screening
- Liver screening
- Spleen screening
- Gallbladder screening
- Bladder screening
- Kidney screening
- Testicular screening for male members
- Exterior pelvic screening for female members.
