Due to an ongoing construction project in New Haven, lower State Street will be affected by traffic impacts this Thursday and Sunday.
New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker sent a message to New Haven residents on Wednesday informing them of the traffic impacts.
Elicker said that the delays will be scheduled as part of the ongoing Lower State Street Redesign project. It includes new housing being built along the corridor.
He said that due to the construction, there will be two days when “vehicle traffic will be significantly impacted or redirected.”
Between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursday, there will be alternating one-way traffic on State Street between Chapel Street and Elm Street/Grande Avenue.
A couple of days later, on Sunday, State Street will be closed to vehicles between Chapel Street and Crown Street from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Detours to other streets will be posted, Elicker said.
