
A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle Sunday night in Norwalk, according to police.
Norwalk Combined Dispatch received multiple 911 calls around 7:43 p.m. on April 5, 2026, reporting that a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle in the area of 7 Commerce Street.
Norwalk Police, the Norwalk Fire Department and Norwalk Hospital EMS were immediately dispatched to the scene. Responding officers located a 29-year-old man lying in the roadway. Emergency medical care was provided before the victim was transported by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital with serious injuries.
Police say the crash occurred at the intersection of Wall Street and Commerce Street. Based on preliminary findings, the vehicle involved was traveling westbound on Wall Street and turning southbound onto Commerce Street at the time of the collision. The pedestrian was crossing northbound within the intersection when the crash occurred.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The Norwalk Police Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Identification Unit responded to process the scene and take over the investigation.
The accident remains under active investigation.
