Man arrested, accused of trying to sexually assault two minors at Southbury state park
A Southbury man was arrested after the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) said he attempted to sexually assault two minors while armed with a knife at Kettletown State Park in Southbury.
On July 13, DEEP’s Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police responded to the park after receiving a report of an assault. Southbury police officers also assisted with the investigation.
When they arrived, they arrested a 23-year-old man who DEEP said threatened two minors with a knife and attempted to sexually assault them.
The minors resisted and fought off his alleged attempts before getting help from other people at the park, according to DEEP.
The man was charged with robbery in the first degree, two counts of breach of peace, interfering with an emergency call, two counts of assault in the third degree, two counts of threatening, strangulation in the third degree, two counts of criminal attempt to commit sexual assault in the third degree, two counts of unlawful restraint in the first degree, disorderly conduct, and carrying a dangerous weapon.
The man was arrested and taken to Connecticut State Police Troop A for processing. He was held on a $250,000 bond and was arraigned Tuesday in Waterbury Superior Court.
