Inspector general releases new details on police shooting in Manchester
The Office of the Inspector General has released new information about a police shooting in Manchester on Sunday night.
Officers responded to a home on Parker Street just before 11 p.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance involving a person with a knife.
A 911 caller told dispatchers 18-year-old David Cordero was out of control and was smashing things in the house.
Officer Anthony Dejulius was the first to arrive at the scene.
As he got out of his cruiser, Cordero was chasing a man towards the officer, according to the inspector general. Officer Dejulius ordered Cordero to stop, and then fired three shots when he didn’t stop, striking Cordero in the shoulder.
No knife was found in the area where Cordero was shot, according to the inspector general.
Cordero was taken to the hospital to be treated and was later released.
He has been charged with third-degree assault, first-degree criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, and third-degree criminal mischief.
