A duckling who was in distress is back with its family after being rescued by firefighters in Ledyard over the weekend.
Firefighters from the Gales Ferry Fire Company were called to Military Highway and Mill Cove Road Saturday around 9 p.m. for a report of a duckling in distress.
According to fire officials, two good Samaritans walking in the area saw a duckling fall in between a retaining wall and a rock piling next to the bridge and become trapped.
After careful displacement, crews were able to free the duckling and get the animal back to its family.
