Motorcyclist ‘significantly burned' in crash on Route 66 in Marlborough: FD
A motorcyclist is significantly burned after a crash on Route 66 in Marlborough overnight, according to the fire department.
Firefighters responded to a motorcycle accident with fire on Route 66 at the intersection of North Main Street and South Main Street around 12:15 a.m.
Once crews arrived, first responders and bystanders found two people on fire. The flames were rapidly extinguished by those at the scene.
Investigators said the driver of the motorcycle sustained significant burns to the lower extremities and was transported by ambulance before being transferred to LifeStar for specialized treatment at a regional burn center.
The passenger was evaluated for burn injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
