Willimantic police investigate early morning fatal shooting
Willimantic Police say one person is dead after a shooting occurred on Main Street around 1:45 a.m. Sunday morning.
They say officers responded to an apartment and found one man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
According to police, despite attempted life-saving measures, the victim was pronounced dead on scene.
Officers are still investigating the scene but, according to police, a confrontation most likely occurred inside the apartment between a suspect and the victim before the shooting.
The Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad is on scene and processing the scene.
Police say to avoid the area, but there is no information to suggest there is an ongoing threat to the public.
