
A 41-year-old Wallingford man was killed in a construction accident at a quarry in Seymour on Monday morning, according to police.
Police, firefighters, and emergency medical services responded to Haynes Quarry on Derby Avenue around 10:40 a.m. for a reported construction accident.
First responders found the man unresponsive with severe injuries, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation found that the man had been operating heavy machinery near the base of the rock quarry when several loose rocks fell from the cliff and fatally injured him, according to police.
Police said there was no blasting taking place at the quarry at the time of the incident.
The man has not yet been identified.
Seymour police, the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, the Seymour fire marshal, and the Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the incident.
