UConn women’s basketball announces series with ACC powerhouse beginning at TD Garden in ’26

The UConn women’s basketball team added another date to its 2026-27 schedule on Friday, announcing a three-year series with Duke.

The series will begin with a neutral site matchup on Nov. 28 at TD Garden in Boston. The Huskies haven’t played at the iconic home of the Boston Celtics since 1996, when they beat Boston College, 78-38, in the Reebok Classic.

“We are thrilled to bring a marquee women’s college basketball matchup between the UConn Huskies and Duke Blue Devils to TD Garden,” said Glen Thornborough, president of TD Garden, in a release. “Boston is a city that lives and breathes championship basketball, and hosting these two powerhouse programs gives fans the chance to experience the very best of the women’s game on one of basketball’s most iconic stages.”

The teams will then continue with a home-and-home, beginning in Durham, N.C., in 2027-28. That matchup will serve as a homecoming game for Huskies star and Durham native Sarah Strong in what will be her senior season. Duke is set to make a return trip to Connecticut in 2028-29.

UConn and Duke last met in Portland, Ore., in the Sweet 16 of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, where the Huskies eliminated the Blue Devils with a 53-45 win. The Huskies have won 11 straight matchups against Duke dating back to 2007, and they hold a 14-3 lead in the all-time series. Duke’s last win over UConn came in the 2006 Elite Eight, when the Blue Devils pulled off a 63-61 overtime win in Bridgeport.

Duke is currently the No. 12 team in the country and is the favorite to win the ACC this season with a 16-1 record in the conference.

The Huskies already have a loaded nonconference slate for 2026-27. They will resume their rivalry series with No. 3 South Carolina in the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase at Mohegan Sun Arena on Nov. 24, and they are set to face No. 6 LSU at a showcase in Nashville. UConn will also play an opponent to be determined in the Women’s Champions Classic at Barclays Center. On top of the neutral site matchups, the Huskies have existing home-and-home series on the schedule with No. 13 Ohio State and Notre Dame on the road and Tennessee at home.
