UConn to honor Peggy Myers, Donyell Marshall as Big East Legends during conference tournaments

More than four decades after Peggy Myers completed her UConn women’s basketball career, the former Huskies center will be recognized as Big East Legend this weekend.

Myers (formerly Walsh) was the captain of head coach Geno Auriemma and associate head coach Chris Dailey’s first team at UConn in 1985-86 and earned All-Big East honors as a senior that season. She finished her career as a Husky with 1,413 points, and her 937 career rebounds still rank top 10 in program history. She is also eighth in career double-doubles (28) and 10th in single-season rebounds (337) in the UConn’s record book.

Myers began serving as a program assistant at UConn in 1994-95, the year the Huskies won their first NCAA Championship, and she is currently in her 31st season in the role.

The Huskies also have close ties to Georgetown’s 2026 Legend, Katie Fudd (formerly Smrkca-Duffy). Fudd, the mother of current UConn star Azzi Fudd, was the first Hoyas player ever selected in the WNBA Draft when she went to the Sacramento Monarchs in 2001. She spent three seasons at Georgetown after playing at NC State as a freshman, and she earned second-team All-Big East honors in all three years.

The women’s Legends will be honored during the Big East Tournament quarterfinals on March 7 at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The UConn men’s basketball program’s 2026 Legend is Donyell Marshall, the 1993-94 Big East Player of the Year. Marshall was the program’s first consensus first team All-American, and he remains in the top 10 in UConn’s record book in blocked shots, and scoring average. He also holds the program for consecutive 20-point games with 23 in a row. Marshall was selected No. 4 overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 1994 NBA Draft and played 15 years in the league. He is one of just six players in NBA history to have 10,000 points, 5,000 rebounds, 750 blocks and 750 three-pointers in a career.

Marshall will be recognized as a Big East Legend during the Huskies’ first game of the Big East Tournament on March 13 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
