U.S. Marshals arrest NJ man in connection with 2021 murder in Hamden
A New Jersey man was arrested on Wednesday and is accused of murdering a man in Hamden in 2021, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
The U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 47-year-old Curtis Cole, of Camden, New Jersey, after he was identified as the suspect in the fatal shooting of 38-year-old Jonquay Morrison, of Hamden.
On June 6, 2021, the Hamden Police Department responded to a reported shots-fired incident in the area of 20 Hamden Park Drive. When they arrived, they found Morrison with gunshot wounds. He later died, the U.S. Marshals Service said.
An extensive investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for Cole on July 23, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Cole is charged with murder, illegal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, and criminal possession of a pistol or revolver.
The Connecticut U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force learned that Cole was in New Jersey and sent a collateral lead to the New York/New Jersey division, who located him in Camden.
Cole is being held on a $3 million bond, pending extradition to Connecticut.
