East Haven police say two men have been arrested on multiple charges Friday after they were reported to have been acting suspiciously.

Officials say that police were patrolling a plaza when a red Subaru traveled through the lot where two passengers were seen wearing ski masks.

They say the car did not have a license plate on it and that there was other suspicious behavior present that made the officers initiate a stop.

The driver of the car, later identified as 22-year-old Pable Estrada-Vincente of New Britain, left the plaza via the one-way entrance and almost hit two vehicles that were pulling into the lot, police say.

According to police, Estrada-Vicente continued to ignore police and fled on to I-95 south toward I-91 north.

Police say they were able to coordinate with State Police who monitored the car’s location while the Wallingford Police Department was able to deploy stop sticks in the area of the Route 15 on-ramp to disable the car.

They say two suspects were taken into custody where police were able to search the car and found a machete, baseball bat, crowbar, the car’s license plate and a fixed-blade knife.

Estrada-Vicente also had black rubber gloves and he and his passenger, 34-year-old Antonio Gil of New Britain, were in possession of ski masks.

Both men were placed under arrest and transported to the East Haven Police Department.

Estrada-Vicente was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, engaging officers in pursuit, interfering with an officer, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and reckless driving.

He was released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 22.

Gil was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle and was released on a $25,000 bond.

He is set to appear in court on April 22.
