Tulsi Gabbard resigning as intelligence chief, citing husband's cancer diagnosis

Tulsi Gabbard is resigning from her post as Director of National Intelligence, sources confirmed to NBC News Friday.

Gabbard informed President Donald Trump that she is leaving her role to be with her husband, who has bone cancer, according to two senior administration officials. 

Another source familiar with Gabbard’s plans told NBC News that the medical diagnosis of her husband is rare, and quite serious.

Fox was first to report the resignation.
