Third alarm fire displaces two families in Stamford
Two families are displaced after a third alarm fire at a condominium unit in Stamford on Sunday.
Just before 8 p.m., the Stamford Fire Department responded to Oakwoods Place Condominiums after multiple calls about a fully involved fire.
Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy flames and immediately requested a second alarm.
As crews were battling the fire, the flames extended into the attic and a third alarm was struck.
Firefighters administered an aggressive interior attack while conducting searches throughout the building. No one was found in the building.
The fire caused extensive damage to both floors of the apartment and the attic. The two adjoining apartments sustained significant smoke and water damage as well.
One person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries from the fire. One firefighter was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Two families were displaced due to the damage from the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
