We’ll be getting a preview of summer this week, with building heat and humidity over the next couple of days before storms bring some relief midweek.
Expect plenty of sunshine across the state today with very warm temperatures.
Highs will climb into the upper 80s inland, with slightly cooler readings near the shoreline thanks to a breeze off the Sound. It’s a classic warm, late-spring day with comfortable humidity.
Skies remain mostly clear overnight with fair conditions.
It will stay mild as temperatures settle back into the 60s, setting the stage for an even hotter day ahead.
The hottest day of this stretch arrives tomorrow.
High temperatures will surge into the middle 90s inland, with feel-like temperatures closer to 95 to 98 degrees in some spots.
While much of the day stays dry, an isolated shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out by the afternoon or evening.
The heat sticks around into Wednesday, with highs still reaching the 90-to-95-degree range inland.
However, changes are on the way.
A cold front approaches the region, bringing a better chance for showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.
These storms will help break the hot spell, with cooler and more comfortable air expected to move in later in the week.
Even though this stretch will feel intense, it’s not officially a heat wave just yet — but it’s a reminder that summer is right around the corner.
