The World Cup title is going to Spain.
Spain took down reigning champion Argentina and Lionel Messi 1-0 in the 2026 final in New York/New Jersey on Sunday.
Ferran Torres scored the winning goal all the way in the 106th minute, as Spain capitalized on Argentina being down to 10 men following Enzo Fernandez’s late second yellow card.
Messi and Co. could not become the first team to repeat as World Cup champions in 64 years, as their tally stayed at three wins all time.
Spain now has two in two, its last win coming in the 2010 final — also a 1-0 extra-time win, that time vs. the Netherlands.
This is a developing story and will be updated…
