‘Significant roadway failure' closes Prospect Ave. in West Hartford

Prospect Avenue in West Hartford is closed due to what town officials are calling a “significant roadway failure.”

The town says the roadway failure is between 95 and 105 Prospect Avenue.

There are currently traffic impacts including:

• Both northbound lanes being closed to through traffic
• Northbound traffic being detoured via Merrill Street in Hartford
• Only one southbound lane is open

Anyone in the area should expect delays. The traffic detours are expected to remain in place until further notice as crews assess conditions and figure out a safe repair plan.

West Hartford Public Works is investigating the cause of the roadway failure.
