Multiple cities and towns are canceling Memorial Day parades this weekend due to the rain.

Officials in Waterbury have canceled the city’s parade that was originally scheduled for Sunday. The city’s Memorial Day services will still take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, but will be held indoors in the basement of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

The parade in Norwalk that was scheduled for Sunday has also been canceled.

In Bantam, the Memorial Day Parade has also been canceled. It was scheduled to begin at the Town Hall Annex at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The Memorial Day Parade in Monroe has been canceled, but the public is invited to attend the annual “Honoring Our Heroes,” ceremony at 2 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall.

Sunday is expected to be a washout with widespread rain through the day. Some of the showers will be a bit heavy at times as we pick up 1-2″ of rain.

A few more showers are possible on Monday morning, but the afternoon of Memorial Day looks better with some sunshine and highs in the 60s & 70s.
