
A Purple Alert has been issued by Connecticut State Police for a missing New Haven man.
According to the alert, Derrick Hirscht, 50, was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, white headphones, a blue polo shirt with white stripes, black shorts and black shoes.
Hirscht is described as a white male, approximately 5’9″ weighing 200 pounds. He has grey hair and brown eyes.
His family says that Hirscht walked away from his group home on Wednesday, June 10 and has not been seen or heard from since.

A Purple Alert, similar to an Amber or Silver Alert, is an emergency notification system designed to locate missing adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, brain injuries, or cognitive conditions (like early-onset Alzheimer’s) that are not related to substance abuse, according to the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.
