A person has serious injuries after falling down an embankment when a fence gave way in Manchester on Tuesday evening, according to fire officials.

Firefighters were called to the 100 block of Slater Street around 7:45 p.m. for a report of a long fall.

Investigators said someone leaned against a fence over a vertical embankment when the fence gave way and they fell about 20 feet onto a hard surface.

Crews rescued the person and transported them to the hospital with serious injuries.
