
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has released the cause and manner of death for the 93-year-old woman who died after walking out of a Windsor Locks nursing home in February.
Margaret Healy, who suffered from dementia, walked out of the Bickford Health Care Center in the overnight hours of Feb. 8 in freezing cold conditions. She was found lying in the snow more than three hours later.
According to the OCME, Healy died of hypothermia due to environmental exposure combined with significant hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Her death was ruled accidental.
In March, the state ordered that all patients be transferred out of the nursing home. It offcially closed last month.
