
A man who fatally stabbed another man after an argument at a New Haven store in 2024 was found guilty of manslaughter on Monday, according to the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice.
Antwine Mike, who was 48 at the time, stabbed 47-year-old Travis James to death around 1 a.m. on June 1, 2024, after they got into an argument outside Sam’s Food Store on Whalley Avenue, police said. Both men were from New Haven.
Within 48 hours of the stabbing, Mike turned himself into police and was charged with murder, according to police.
He was held on a $2 million bond. He is now guilty of manslaughter in the first degree.
The case was investigated by the New Haven Police Department and was prosecuted by Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Melissa R. Holmes and Assistant State’s Attorney Sarah E. Jones.
Mike will be sentenced on May 22 in New Haven Superior Court.
