“New driver” hits two pedestrians in Trumbull Saturday morning

Trumbull police say a woman and a child in a stroller were hit Saturday morning by a “new driver” in Trumbull mall.

According to police, officers arrived on scene for reports of an accident involving two pedestrians.

They say that initial investigations show a new driver in training was operating a vehicle in the parking lot when the car accelerated and hit both the woman and child.

Both pedestrians were transported to a local hospital for evaluation, the driver is on scene and cooperating with investigators, police say.

The Accident Reconstruction Team is conducting an investigation.
