
Multiple firefighters had to be treated at the scene for exertion after battling a duplex fire in Taftville Thursday night.
According to the Taftville Fire Department, crews were called around 8:35 p.m. to a 2½‑story wood‑frame duplex at 24 North 3rd Avenue.
Upon arrival, heavy flames were seen. Fire was reported on the first floor, extending up the rear of the building.
Crews stretched multiple hose lines to knock down the flames while firefighters searched the building and checked extension from the basement to the attic. An aerial ladder was also deployed during operations.
Firefighters from several area departments assisted at the scene. American Ambulance evaluated multiple firefighters for exertion.
No civilian injuries were reported.
The Norwich Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Norwich police, public utilities crews and the city’s building official also responded.
