Multiple Connecticut beaches closed from swimming amid extreme heat

Multiple Connecticut beaches closed from swimming amid extreme heat

Beaches in Stratford and Clinton are closed to swimmers for at least the remainder of Wednesday.

These closures come as temperatures exceed 100 degrees across the state for the next several days.

The Stratford Health Department said that Stratford beaches are closed for swimming due to rainfall exceeding one inch and may reopen on Thursday depending on Wednesday’s weather.

Swimming and water activities in Clinton Town Beach are closed because the bacteria levels in the water are beyond the “standard limits,” according to Clinton CT Parks and Recreation.

The beach itself and the facility amenities remain fully open. It has not yet been announced when swimming and water activities will resume.
