‘Multiple buildings' catch fire in Waterbury

Crews in Waterbury are working to quell a large fire that broke out Thursday evening on South Main Street.

Fire officials say the fire has spread to multiple buildings, engulfing about one third of the block.

The main body of the fire is contained and it’s believed firefighters have prevented it from spreading to any other surrounding structures.

Two firefighters have been taken to the hospital and their condition wasn’t immediately known.

Crews are working to determine on where the fire originated and how it was sparked.
