Hillhouse High School’s school officials are speaking out after “messages of hate” were found on Thursday.
Principal Dr. Antoine Billy said racist and antisemitic messages were found in a bathroom inside the school.
Billy did not go into full detail about what messages were found, but said that he is “fully committed” to lead the school’s students and staff through the incident and emphasized that the school was not a place of hate.
“Our students carry challenges with them each day: gun violence, domestic violence, poverty, food insecurity, and countless other hardships. Hate is not something a child is born with. It is taught. And every one of us has a responsibility to extinguish it whenever and wherever it appears,” said Billy in a statement.
