A man has been arrested in connection to a woman that was found dead inside of a home in East Haven on Friday.

Police received a 911 call around 5:30 p.m., but no one was heard on the line. Officials said the call originated from a home on Edgemere Road.

When officers got to the scene, they found a man, later identified as 56-year-old Sean Mccormack, of East Haven, sitting on the kitchen floor, and he appeared to be heavily intoxicated, according to police.

Shortly after, a woman was found in an adjacent room with “apparent fatal injuries,” police said. She was pronounced dead just before 6 p.m. Her identity has not yet been released.

Police officials said the man was detained and taken to the hospital. According to East Haven police, Mccormack was arrested and charged with assault. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

The investigation is active and ongoing. East Haven Police Department Investigative Services Division are working with Connecticut State Police Major Crimes, Central District and the New Haven States Attorney’s Office.
