A Bridgeport Firefighter is dead after he was shot over the weekend in a home in Stratford. His alleged killer faced a Bridgeport judge Monday in a courtroom packed with first responders.

Terrance Cramer was remembered as a beloved member of the Bridgeport firefighting community and for being a fearless individual who was taken from the community far too soon.

Flags in the city were flying at half staff Monday following the Cramer’s death.

“A mentor to me both on the job and off the job. We are very sad,” said Jean-Claude Rasuk, a fellow firefighter and friend.

Cramer had been on the job for nearly a decade and was loved by all of his fellow first responders who knew him.

“He was a fireman’s fireman, a great father and a great friend, so we wanted to show support, support Cramer,” said Rasuk.

First responders lined the sidewalk outside the Bridgeport courthouse where Cramer’s alleged killer was arraigned Monday.

Jabari Bush was charged with murder, home invasion, and illegal possession of a firearm in Cramer’s death.

“The underlying facts of this were particularly brutal,” the judge said during the arraignment.

Cramer was in a relationship with Bush’s ex-girlfriend. according to the arrest warrant. Bush and the ex-girlfriend split back in 2025, but had been “on-again, off-again” until January of this year, when she ended things for good.

She told police Bush had recently started contacting her again “at a constant rate.”

Bush showed up at her home unannounced the day before the alleged murder, and the two spoke, but he left. The following evening, he came back and allegedly broke in, according to the arrest warrant. There were no signs of forced entry, and she said the door was probably left unlocked.

Bush found Cramer and the female victim together in bed, shot Cramer, and took off, according to the arrest warrant.

Assistant Chief Armando Cora said some of the department’s firefighters know Bush, but didn’t expand on the details of those relationships. He instead focused on Cramer and his family.

“Fearless going in, doing his job, doing what was expected, never gave anyone any grief, just happy to help anytime he could,” Cora said.

He said Cramer’s love for his two boys, who the fire department has vowed to protect, and help build strong good young men, like Cramer would have wanted.

“One thing I always remember about Terrance he was a very devoted father, he was devoted and wanted to make sure he raised his boys to be good young men,” said Cora.

Bush is being held on $3 million bond and is due back in court on April 14.
