Ledyard High School is closed on Friday after they said they received a “credible threat of danger,” Ledyard Public Schools said.
The district said everyone is safe and the threat is specific to the high school, according to its website.
The Ledyard Police Department is on the scene, the building is locked down, and all buses were routed away from campus, according to the district.
“Students who have already been dropped off by out-of-district buses or parents are currently safely indoors and will be dismissed in partnership with the Ledyard Police,” the district said.
All students who drove to school and those who were dropped off are also being told to return home.
All other schools in the district are open and are operating under a previously scheduled early release. The district said elementary school buses may run five to 10 minutes late.
Woodstock Middle School and Woodstock Academy are also on lockdown due to a situation, according to the schools.
“Student and staff safety is our number one priority, and while we believe this is most likely a hoax because other districts are experiencing the same call, we must take every threat seriously, and we will send out additional messaging once the state police have cleared everything and allowed us to do so,” said Dr. Lawrence Filippelli, Head of School at Woodstock Academy.
No further information was immediately available.
