Jury finds suspect guilty of murder in May 2023 killing at Plymouth gas station

A jury found a 43-year-old man guilty of murder last week in a May 2023 shooting death at gas station in Plymouth.

The jury convicted Charles Whitfield Jr., of Plymouth, in the death of 42-year-old Phillip Harris, of New Britain.

Police responded to the Gulf station at 120 Main Street in the Terryville section of Plymouth on the night of May 4, 2023 and found Harris suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police said Whitfield and Harris knew each other.

Whitfield is scheduled to be sentenced on July 14.
