Hartford firefighters battled a fire on Bedford St. early Thursday morning.
According to District Chief Mario Oquendo Jr., crews were called to 40-42 Bedford St. around 3:09 a.m. Thursday morning on reports of a fire in a three-story brick multi-family home located in the city’s Clay Arsenal neighborhood.
Multiple fire companies operated at the scene. Due to the volume of the fire and the need for additional manpower, a second alarm was transmitted.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control after conducting an aggressive interior and exterior attack.
No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. One firefighter was evaluated at the scene for heat exhaustion but was not transported. One dog was safely removed from the building.
The Hartford Fire Department’s Special Services Unit is working with the American Red Cross to assist displaced residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office.
