A shelter-in-place was put in place at West Haven High School on Wednesday morning after “several fights broke out,” police said.
A total of five people — three girls and two adult women — were arrested because of the fights, according to police.
It started when “several fights broke out involving multiple female juveniles,” police said.
The incidents escalated after two female parents of students involved in the altercations arrived at the school and began causing a disturbance while attempting to get involved in the fights, according to police.
Police said the “violent and tumultuous” behavior of both the girls and parents prompted administrators to implement a shelter-in-place to protect students and staff.
No injuries were reported.
“This type of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” police wrote in a release to the media.
No further details were immediately provided.
