Firefighters battle brush fire in Torrington
Emergency crews battled a brush fire near Burr Pond State Park in Torrington on Tuesday.
The fire shut down Burr Mountain Road in both directions at Winsted Road, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
Firefighters from the Harwinton West Site Volunteer Fire Department are also at the scene assisting Torrington Firefighters.
People are being asked to avoid the area as firefighters worked to put out the flames.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but police are asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to contact them.
