
A Connecticut woman is dead and a Maine man has been charged with her murder, according to Maine State Police.
Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, dispatchers received a 911 call reporting the shooting of 23-year-old Makayla Rose Desantis, of Colchester, Connecticut, state police said. She was rushed by ambulance to MaineHealth Franklin Hospital in Farmington and later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she died of her injuries.
Investigators learned that Desantis had been shot at a residence on Left Bank in Carrabasset Valley.
On Monday night, 24-year-old Austin Doucette, of Carrabassett Valley, was arrested and charged with Desantis’ murder.
Few other details about the investigation have been released. The investigation is ongoing and authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The investigation was conducted by the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Carrabasset Valley Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Carrabassett Valley, a town of only about 670 residents, is located in Franklin County and is home to Sugarloaf ski resort.
