Conn. Dept. of Correction officer arrested in connection to suspected DUI stop in Plainfield
A Connecticut Department of Correction officer has been arrested in connection to a suspected DUI stop in Plainfield early Saturday morning.
An officer on patrol near Plainfield High School reportedly saw a Mazda swerve then enter the adjacent parking lot around 1:30 a.m.
Police said the driver of the Mazda was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
During the investigation, authorities said multiple people exited a second vehicle on scene. One of the people was later identified as 55-year-old Michael Etman-Marois, an active Connecticut Department of Correction officer, according to police.
While on scene, investigators said Etman-Marois became uncooperative with officers and was told to stay away as they conducted their investigation. Etman-Marois refused to follow commands and as an officer attempted to escort him away, he actively resisted, police said. A struggle ensued and he was placed under arrest.
Authorities said the driver of the Mazda was determined to be under the influence and was also placed under arrest. They were charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Etman-Marois is being charged with interfering with police.
Both were released on bond and are due in court on August 5.
