A Clinton resident was seriously injured during a fire Monday morning, officials said.
Fire crews were called by a resident of the Lafayette Green condominiums just before 10:30 a.m. The caller reported a smoke detector activation with a smoke odor.
Officials said several other 911 calls reported seeing smoke and flames coming from a second-floor window.
When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found the unit’s occupant in the hallway. They were rescued by firefighters and taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for serious injuries, according to officials.
Three other residents in the other units were displaced but uninjured, officials said, and are being helped by the American Red Cross. No firefighters were injured either.
The Clinton Fire Department was helped by towns including Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Madison, and Guilford.
The Connecticut State Police Fire & Investigations unit is assisting the Clinton Fire Marshal’s office with the investigation into the cause of the fire.
