Bradley International Airport holds gift card drive to support TSA workers
As TSA employees continue working without pay during the partial government shutdown, officials at Bradley International Airport are asking for the public’s help.
The Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) launched a gift card drive on Friday morning to support TSA workers affected by the shutdown.
Donations can be dropped off after security, across from the A1 checkpoint. The CAA and its partners say they have also contributed gift cards to assist workers.
The CAA is asking for gift cards to places that provide everyday essentials, such as gas stations, grocery stores, and common retailers. Visa, MasterCard, or American Express gift cards will not be accepted, the CAA said.
Donated gift cards must also be in $20 increments.
The Senate approved Homeland Security funds to pay Transportation Security Administration agents and most other agencies early Friday morning. However, they have not yet approved the immigration enforcement operations at the heart of the budget impasse that has jammed airports, disrupted travel, and imposed financial hardship on workers.
