
A bicyclist has died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in New Haven on Friday night.
Officers responded to Howard Avenue and 2nd Street around 11:15 p.m. for a report of a crash involving a bicyclist. Investigators said the vehicle fled the scene after the crash.
In the area, police said they found an unresponsive man in the road with apparent injuries. The man, identified as a 53-year-old from New Haven, was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital where he later died. His identity has not yet been released.
Authorities said it appears the bicyclist was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by the vehicle.
Police later found the vehicle involved in the collision in another area of the city, but it was unoccupied, according to investigators.
