Azzi Fudd out for rest of season with Dallas Wings as she undergoes knee surgery
Former UConn star Azzi Fudd’s rookie season in the WNBA has come to an early end, according to an announcement from the Dallas Wings.
The Dallas Wings announced on Wednesday that Fudd will undergo an arthroscopic procedure to address ongoing soreness in her right knee. The procedure is expected to take place in Connecticut early next week, according to the team.
With less than five weeks remaining, Fudd will miss the remainder of the 2026 regular season. She last appeared in a game on Aug. 5 against the Washington Mystics.
Fudd, who spent five seasons at UConn and helped the Huskies win the 2025 national championship, was selected by Dallas with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
This past season, Fudd averaged 13.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.73 steals and 0.83 blocks over 30 games. Her 1.73 steals average lead all WNBA rookies, while she ranks second among rookies in blocks, and third in scoring.
The Wings said Fudd will begin rehabbing immediately following the procedure and that the team will provide additional updates when appropriate.
