Ansonia Mayor Frank Tyszka (D) said his administration has uncovered misuse of city-issued credit cards, vehicles, and other resources.
Tyszka said he has scheduled a special Board of Alders meeting next Wednesday to hire an outside law firm to investigate the conduct.
In a letter sent to the Board of Alders, Tyszka did not identify any specific employees but said he discovered the misuse while gathering information for open records requests.
He said he also found evidence that employees misused gas purchasing cards, city hall facilities, and city time.
In the letter, Tyszka asks the Board of Alders to authorize the Crumbie Law Firm to conduct an independent investigation. It’s the same law firm that the City of New Britain brought on to investigate former Mayor Erin Stewart’s (R) reported misuse of funds.
Tyszka defeated former Mayor David Cassetti (R) in November’s election.
