A woman has been charged with animal cruelty in connection to the deaths of multiple dogs in Coventry.
Police arrested 45-year-old Anai Martinez-Cortes, of Coventry, on Thursday on an arrest warrant.
An investigation began in April when police said it was discovered that seven dogs were left inside an approximate four by six foot wooden structure with little to no ventilation for an extended period of time.
According to police, there was one adult pitbull and six pitbull puppies left in the structure on the property.
Authorities said all but one of the dogs died in the structure. One of the puppies survived and is in the care of a family member.
Martinez-Cortes was charged with seven counts of cruelty to animals. She was held on a $150,000 bond and was arraigned on Friday. She was released on a promise to appear and her case was continued to July 30
