Part of a mill building on Hilliard Street collapsed following a fire Wednesday afternoon, Manchester fire officials said.
Crews were called to 75 Hilliard Street just before 3:30 p.m. on the report of a large fire. The fire was located in the old mill building, which housed the business Time Machine Hobby. The building itself is 40,000 sq ft and was originally built in 1888.
Arriving crews found a heavy fire in the back of the building and extending out of multiple windows and the roof.
Two people were in the building at the time and got out without injuries, officials said.
The fire was elevated to a 3-alarm fire, bringing in resources from the East Hartford, Hartford, South Windsor, Glastonbury, and West Hartford fire departments.
Officials said that during the firefight, a significant collapse occurred, bringing down the roof and the second floor.
The fire was contained to the initial occupancy, and Time Machine Hobby remained largely undamaged, according to fire officials.
No injuries were reported.
As of 7:45 p.m., crews were still at the scene to dismantle the collapse.
The Fire Marshal will investigate the origin and cause of the fire.
