The Railway Cafe in Winsted says it is planning to reopen after the owner was killed in a domestic violence incident last week.
In a post on Facebook, the cafe said in part: The Railway Cafe is not permanently closing. This cafe was Mom’s passion, and it’s been a big part of our family’s life for many years. While we take some time to navigate the days ahead, our plan is to reopen and continue serving the community that Mom loved so much.
The cafe’s owner, Carrie Stetson, was found dead in a home on Oak Street in Winsted on Monday night.
According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, she died of sharp force injuries and the manner of death was homicide.
Her husband, 67-year-old Leon Stetson, has since been charged with murder, home invasion, and violation of a protective order.
There is no word on when exactly the cafe will reopen.
