Bloomfield fire officials have identified the man who was killed in a house explosion on Monday.
The fire marshal’s office said 71-year-old Thomas Moore was the only person inside the home and was the only resident at the property on Banbury Lane.
The explosion happened after 6 p.m. on Monday. When fire crews got to the home, they found it ablaze.
Firefighters tried to reach Moore, who was in the basement, but were unable to due to the condition of the home after the explosion. Moore had finally recovered by 1 a.m. Tuesday, officials said.
The fire marshal’s office said the explosion appeared to be a gas leak, but the cause is still under investigation.
